ST. GEORGE — Featuring the works of five innovative artists, the St. George Art Museum is thrilled to announce its fall exhibition “In Flux: Shifting Paradigms.” To mark the exhibit’s arrival, the Museum will host an opening reception Sept. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Refreshmentswill be provided. Admission is free and open to the public.
“Through diverse styles and mediums, each artist reflects on themes of identity, connection, and the passage of time, offering a collective narrative of resilience, introspection and shared journeys,” said Melissa Carter, St. George Art Museum Curator and Manager. “As you explore this exhibition, consider how these artworks connect with your personal experiences and how the ever-changing nature of identity influences our perceptions of ourselves and others.”
The exhibition highlights the work of artists Marissa Albrecht, Linnie Brown, Ike Bushman, Amber Peck and Steven Stradley as they explore the fluidity of human identity through a variety of mediums. Each artist uses abstraction to depict life’s transitions, mental and human states and human connections. Their visual diaries of transformation and adaptation dive into the complexities of identity, caregiving and personal emotion. They use pattern and texture to show the human emotional experience.
In conjunction with this exhibit, the museum will also showcase the American West from its permanent collection. Included in these works are a never-before-seen Ansel Adams print and Minerva Teichert watercolors.
